South America
After Europe, South America is the world’s most important wine producing continent. Most consumers will be un-aware that vines have been cultivated here since the middle of the 16th century! Chile produces some of this continents best wine, due to many decades of European influence. Again all your favourite and recognisable grape varieties can be found here. Such as Cabernet Sauvignon. Try the Torreon De Paredes ‘Valle de Rengo’ , closer in style to a southern French red than the more intense less subtle Californian versions. Argentina is the 3rd largest wine producer in the world, unfortunately though we do not get enough over here! However, try the Goyenechhea Malbec (a grape mainly used for blending in France), but in this climate produces rich, velvety red wines. And has now been proven to be good for you!

The colour is deep lemon, and the aroma is all citrus - lime and lemon. The wine has appreciable quantities of acidity - it is quite sharp and crisp on initial tasting, which softens on the middle palate and the finish. The palate is all lemon, with touches of lime, and is very refreshing. If you like crisp and citrussy wines that leave you refreshed then this is for you. Great with fish or on its own on a warm sunny day.
