New Zealand
Not only is New Zealand a small country in size, it is also a small wine producing country, in fact it only produces the same amount of wine as Cyprus! This may explain the premium price that most good wines carry. Fine wines are produced from both the north and south islands. Probably best known for Sauvignon Blanc, New Zealand also produces stunning reds. The climate is far more European than its closest neighbour Australia, so New Zealand wines are in the more subtle and elegant. For example, the Tuatara Bay Sauvignon Blanc from the Saint Clair Vineyard (New Zealand Wine producer of the year 2005) is quite simply amazing, and the sumptuous Mount Cass Cabernet Sauvignon, from Waipara which could easily be mistaken for a quality Bordeaux. And of course not forgetting 'Pelorus' Sparkling from the world famous Cloudy Bay Vineyard. A rival to any French Champagne. Available direct from us by special order.
