Champagne
The Champagne region is situated in the most northerly wine making area of France and benifits from the rich fertile countryside and the very special chalky soil conditions which gives this magnificent sparkiling wine its unique character. The region is dominated by the champagne centres of, Reims, Epernay and Ay which all benefit from the ideal growing conditions of warm summers, dry autumns and cold winters, perfect for those stunning champagnes.
These unique conditions make it hard for others to copy, although the Californian's and Australian's try hard with their superb "Sparklers" it is still not quite the same. They may be good but they still lack that something extra which only comes from the exclusive region called "Champagne".
The Gran Cru Champagne house of "Ludovic Fauvet" is simply superb. This classy house not only bottle their own Champagne but also supplies grapes to other household name Champagne houses. The "Ludovic Fauvet Frut de Chene (Special Reserve)" is probably the smoothest Champagne we have tasted under £100, simply STUNNING.
