Australia
Of all the wine producing countries of the world, none has more vigour and exuberance than Australia. In the years between 1996 and 2000 wine exports doubled! However this is not to say the quality of there wine has diminished.
The Australians have a market conscious drive to produce acceptable wines for the mass market. However, the mass market is not there only goal, as with all wine countries, select wine growers are producing very high quality wines that exude elegance and style. Australia is mostly associated with Chardonnay and Shiraz, as the vines thrive in this climate, but look out for crisp dry Rieslings and robust Cabernet Sauvignons. Two of our favourites from this young country include The Foundstone Un-oaked Chardonnay, which is a refreshing change from sometimes over complicated oaked versions and the Stepping Stone Shiraz, as you would expect from the first mouthful, cherries, spice and rich velvety tannins.

At Stowells we believe the world of wine is too wonderful and wide to stick to just one country. So we select our range from wherever great grapes grow, which means every bottle is a delicious journey of discovery. SHIRAZ - MATARO. A rich, generous red wine with just a hint of spicy blackberries and masses of fruit, Mataro brings the spice and Shiraz the softness, making this the perfect pairing. Great on its own, but also loves a barbecue....
